As one of the Betway Premiership’s most in-form teams currently, Kaizer Chiefs recorded their fourth straight win following a hard-fought 2-0 victory against TS Galaxy at the FNB Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
In a game that sported lengthy delays in the second half, Chiefs emerged victorious on home soil, owing to goals by Flavio Silva and Makabi Lilepo in either half as the Glamour Boys continued their winning streak.
TS Galaxy produced the first effort on goal after Onke Moletshe’s right-footed shot from outside the box was blocked in just the second minute of the match. However, Chiefs quickly switched into gear and began to see more of the ball.
Mduduzi Shabalala made his presence felt going forward and created a couple of scoring chances for Chiefs after 10 minutes on the clock.
The Soweto giants continued to boss the possession count midway through the first half while the Rockets often looked to break the deadlock from range. Both sides battled with efficiency in the final third. However, Chiefs remained in control as the 30th minute approached.
Chiefs managed to break the deadlock in the 35th minute after making the most of a corner situation. With Shabalala standing on set-piece duty, the midfielder picked out Flavio Silva inside the area as the Chiefs attacker guided the ball home with a header from the centre of the box.

Amakhosi maintained their attacking pressure after taking the lead, as seen with Makabi Lilepo’s free-kick attempt that went narrowly over the crossbar in the 43rd minute. Galaxy, on the other hand, struggled to create scoring chances for much of the half.
After a slow start to the second half, Chiefs continued to have more possession, with Galaxy stuttering in their attempt to progress the ball upfield. However, the likes of Victor Letsoalo and Sphesihle Maduna looked lively for TS Galaxy after the hour mark but failed to make the most of their attempts at goal.
Then, following a lengthy delay, owing to a power outage and lightning, the game eventually resumed after 5:00pm as Chiefs picked up where they left off by assuming dominance on the ball.

Chiefs doubled their advantage in the 75th minute after Makabi Lilepo added his name to the scoresheet in dramatic fashion as he spotted Ira Tape off his line before slotting the ball into an empty net from outside the area.
As the clock ticked down in Gauteng, Chiefs did well to see out the game unscathed, successfully keeping the Rockets at bay with stubborn defending.
