As arguably the biggest winner in the latest round of Motsepe Foundation Championship action this weekend, Milford put five goals past Baroka on Saturday to move to the top of the pile ahead of Kruger United.
Following a sticky spell during the last couple of weeks, Milford returned to winning ways this weekend following a 5-0 win against Baroka on home soil.
Their win was supplemented by former leaders Kruger United’s uncharacteristic 4-0 loss against Casric Stars on Friday.
As it stands, Milford lead the way at the top of the table on 40 points, albeit via a slender goal difference advantage.
Baroka, on the other hand, ended the latest game week in 15th place and in real danger of relegation, with only 18 points to their name from 22 matches played.
Elsewhere, Casric Stars toppled Cape Town City into third position following their victory over Kruger United. In what was Casric’s first win in three games, the Mpumalanga side have now accumulated 38 points, one point ahead of City.
The Citizens are now winless in their last three matches after jotting down a 1-1 draw with Venda Football Academy on Saturday.
As the Western Cape side targets automatic promotion, their blip in form sees them trail the summit by three points after 22 games played.
Also, Black Leopards remained rooted in 16th position this weekend after recording a frustrating 0-0 draw with Highbury on Friday afternoon.
With one victory, two losses and two draws in their last five, Black Leopards are four points from safety as it stands as they continue to fight the jaws of relegation.
