In the wake of a crushing 5-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates, Siwelele FC's head coach Godfrey Mosoetsa remains resolute in his belief that the title race in the DStv Diski Challenge is still very much alive.
The loss, which marked a significant blow to the Bloemfontein side’s title aspirations, did little to dampen Mosoetsa’s optimism as his team prepares for a challenging away match against Durban City this weekend.
“Anything is possible,” Mosoetsa declared when prompted about his team's chances of chasin the title until the final day. Despite their recent setback, Siwelele currently sits third in the standings with 45 points from 23 matches, trailing the league leaders by nine points.
The defeat against Pirates was particularly disappointing for Siwelele, who had been given a chance to narrow the gap but instead missed crucial opportunities that could have altered the outcome.
“We got everything wrong in that Pirates defeat,” Mosoetsa reflected somberly.
“Before the first minute, we conceded an own goal, which was something we could have avoided. It was just one of those days.”
The coach highlighted the importance of a missed penalty that could have initiated a different momentum for his team. “Scoring that penalty could have changed the complexion of the game,” he said.
“Then you come back in the second half, in a critical phase, and concede again on a situation that we should have dealt with.”
As the DStv Diski Challenge progresses, Mosoetsa’s focus shifts squarely to the upcoming match against Durban City at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday morning. His strategy is clear: learn from past mistakes, adapt, and ensure his players are prepared to secure a victory.
“Our primary focus is on the next game,” Mosoetsa emphasized. “We need to address the lessons learned from our previous encounter and improve on the aspects that will help us in making a successful run towards the end of the season.
"Anything is still possible in the top three, depending on what happens with other teams.”

The coach understands the delicate nature of the title chase. “Chasing until the final day will only be feasible if we manage not to lose. With a draw, you lose two points, and winning keeps you in contention. A win in our next match is crucial, and then we’ll see how things unfold as the season draws to a close.”
As Siwelele gears up for their match against Durban City, the coach and players alike embody a spirit of resilience and determination, undeterred by the setbacks of last weekend. With the right mindset and performance, this hopeful mantra of “anything is possible” may yet prove to be a key to future triumphs.
