While much focus has been on Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates at the top of the Betway Premiership pile this season, the likes of Magesi, Orbit College and Marumo Gallants will enter a pivotal period of the campaign as they look to avoid the drop.
Sitting at the bottom of the Betway Premiership table, Magesi gained three much-needed points during their 3-0 win over Marumo Gallants at the Seshego Stadium on Tuesday night.
In only their third win of the campaign, Magesi thus moved one point adrift of the safe zone as they prepare to take on Sekhukhune United in the Limpopo Derby at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
Babina Noko finds themselves in a sticky spell at the moment, as they occupy fifth position after recording two losses and three draws in their last five league ties.
Then, in yet another potential relegation defining tie, 15th placed Orbit College will square off against Marumo Gallants at the iconic Dr Rantlai Petrus Stadium in Bloemfontein on Sunday.
As it stands, Gallants are in 14th position, level on 18 points with their upcoming opponents. Both sides are coming off three-match losing streaks and are desperate to move up the table.
Elsewhere, Orlando Pirates will hope to maintain their rampant form in the Betway Premiership when they go toe-to-toe with Richards Bay at the uMhlathuze Sports Complex on Friday.
The Soweto giants currently trail log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by two points and will be boosted by 6-0 and 5-0 wins against TS Galaxy and Golden Arrows in their last two matches respectively.
