Goldrush Boland won the toss and elected to bat first in their CSA One-Day Cup match against the Moothee Ram Tuskers at Boland Park on Wednesday afternoon.
The winner of this contest will extricate themselves from the bottom two, where both teams currently are. Boland is in seventh place while Tuskers are in eighth place on the eight team log.
Boland comes into the tie eager to bounce back from their 13-run loss to the Momentum Multiply Titans in a rain-affected match at SuperSport Park. Grant Roelofsen and Imran Manack did their best with the bat, but their efforts were in vain.
Roelofsen, who scored a brisk 62 from 38 balls, had little support from the top order. Manack tried to push Boland to victory with a 17-ball 49, and that also wasn’t enough.
Tuskers, on the other hand, suffered a 72-run loss to the NWU Dragons at Pietermaritzburg Oval. Malcolm Nofal scored a solid 66 from 86 deliveries, while no other Tuskers batter went past the 40-run mark. Wayne Parnell (36), Ben Compton (34), Ntando Zuma (23), and Michael Erlank (23), got starts but failed to kick on.
The Tuskers will be keen to recover from that loss and register their first win of the season. However, that will not be easy against a Boland side that will be spurred on by their home fans.
