The Momentum Multiply Titans seemed to have their blushes saved as rain came down and forced a no result in their CSA One Day Cup match against the Dafabet Warriors at St George’s Park in Gqeberha on Wednesday.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat the Titans were in all sorts of trouble after being reduced to 109-8 after 34 overs by the brilliant Warriors bowlers, who were on top from the start of the match.
The home side was thus clearly in the driving seat when the rain arrived, and although they would have hoped to get back on the field, persistent rain meant the game was eventually called off.

It was a great result for the Titans as the two points gained from the no result means they move up to third on the log and into the playoff places with one pool match remaining.
But it was a blow for the Warriors, as the Lions, who also saw their match against the Tuskers in Johannesburg curtailed by rain, had bowled enough overs to constitute a match and eventually won on the DLS method.
That lifted them above the Warriors to the top of the log, and with one match remaining will now be favourites to finish top and go straight through to the final, while the Warriors would have to battle it out in the competition’s qualifier against the third placed finishing team.
Earlier in the day, Warriors spinner Thomas Kaber (3-15 off seven overs) and pace bowler Gideon Peters ( 3-19 off five) were the key figures in dismantling the Titans' top and middle order.
The Titans had already got off to a poor start when Kerwin Mungroo bowled Rivaldo Moonsamy (2), and Lesego Senokwane popped Patrick Kruger to Peters at mid off, leaving them on 37-2.
But Kaber came on to bowl in the 18th over and stunned the visitors with a wicket in each of his first three overs, all of them from superb googly deliveries.
His first ball outfoxed Neil Brand (21) and bowled him, in his next over he got one to spin past the edge of Keegan Petersen’s bat, with keeper Jean du Plessis whipping off the bails for a smart stumping, and in his third he got one to spin back in and trap Keagan Lion-Cachet (2) dead in front LBW, leaving them in tatters on 62-5.
Peters then took centre stage, as he had Andile Phehlukwayo (2) caught off a big edge by Mungroo at long leg, Dayyaan Galiem (3) pulled him straight to Jean Upman at midwicket and Duan Jansen (16) skied him to the keeper.
When the rain arrived Roelof van der Merwe (14*) and Junior Dala (9*) were still at the crease, with a defendable score looking incredibly unlikely.
