Newly-crowned European champion Gianmarco Tamberi won the men's high jump at the Silesia Diamond League on Saturday.
One of three disciplines included in a city event in central Katowice, the Italian managed a best of 2.31 metres, failing three times at what would have been a world lead of 2.35m.

Jamaica's Romaine Beckford finished second with 2.29m, while meet record holder Mutaz Essa Barshim of Qatar could only finish seventh (2.23).
American two-time world gold medallist Chase Jackson won the women's shot put with a meet record of 20.92m.
Jessica Schilder of the Netherlands, who won European gold in Birmingham, was second with a best of 20.20m, while Canada's two-time former world indoor champion Sarah Mitton rounded out the podium (19.34).
Portugal's Agate de Sousa also set a meet record of 6.98m in the women's long jump, but that was equalled by Jackson's teammate Alyssa Jones, who went on to win thanks to a better series of jumps.
